A passionate performer noted for her "great expressive tone and range" (Christopher Caliendo, composer) and her “...capacity to reveal the deep soul of a composition” (Martin Rokeach, composer), Christine Erlander Beard enjoys an active international career as a soloist, chamber artist and teacher, having performed and taught in over 30 countries on five continents. Highlights of recent seasons include solo performances with the Orquestra Filarmonica de Mendoza (Argentina), the Orquestra Sinfonica de Porto Alegre (Brazil), the Orchestra Harmonia Mundi (Italy), the San Jose Chamber Orchestra (CA), and the Orquestra Sinfonica Bernardo Alzedo (Peru). Awarded Second Prize in the prestigious American Prize Competition's Professional Soloist division in 2019, Christine has commissioned and/or premiered dozens of new works from composers across the globe including Juri Seo, Reena Ismail, Amanda Harberg, Valerie Coleman, Linthicum-Blackhorse, Samuel Zyman, Herman Beeftink, Jim Stephenson, Daniel Wolff, and Matthew Smith, among others.

Recognizing the potential power of the internet when it was first introduced to the public while still in college, Christie took the initiative to learn self-marketing and promotion strategies that quickly catapulted her onto the national and international stage. A lifelong student, she continues to hone her skills and is eager to share with others how to create effective career-building tools including web design basics, how programming strategies can define your artist image, writing dynamic bios and cover letters, resumé/C.V. building, and more.

Christine earned her MM and DMA from The University of Texas at Austin, and BM from Arkansas State University. She joined the faculty at the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2002 where she teaches applied lessons, chamber music, contemporary music literature, and has led the music entrepreneurship program. A regular substitute player with the Omaha and Sioux City Symphonies, she joined the Whole Musician faculty in 2019. www.christiebeard.net
